CHUNG GI WA – Central Park Mall

You can guess how happy we are when we knew Chung Gi Wa has opened at Central Park Mall. Just around our neighborhood! We could be in this mall 3-4 times a week or even more, and we were very happy with the presence of Chung Gi Wa which gives us more restaurant options in Central Park Mall. Chung Gi Wa located on 2nd floor of Central Park Mall, right next to Urban Kitchen.

It just opened on 8 August 2016, so the place’s still pretty new! The place itself is spacious and divided into 2 areas. The one is equipped with BBQ set and exhaust, so you can grilling the meat by yourself, and the other one is an ordinary table and your order will be grilled in their kitchen. The interior is dominated by the wood element with cool white lighting. There are many logs used as the decoration item, wooden furniture, and wooden partition and panel that match to their concept. Simple yet nice design with cozy ambiance.

Service is one thing that we thumb up for this restaurant. Almost in every branch of Chung Gi Wa, you will see the owner of the restaurant had come down to serve their customers.

Banchan

Like others Korean restaurants, there is a complimentary side dish or Banchan. Banchan often translated as “side dishes” are an essential part of any Korean meal. They are not just decoration or appetizers: they are the meal, along with soup and rice. The Korean side dish consists of Kimchi, Pajeon (vegetable pancake), braised soybeans, salad, vegetables, etc. Our favorite is pajeon and braised soybeans. And the best part is, this banchan is refillable! 😀

There is also another condiment that you should not be missed. The soy sauce with onion and the chilli!!! They have the best chilli and their soy sauce seriously a taste booster for their dishes, especially for dipped with grilled BBQ.

Samgyeopsal

This is undoubtedly the mandatory order! Korean BBQ will never be complete without this one. This is their signature and what everyone always orders (including us): Pork Belly! The juiciest part of pork, which is also the most sinful. Their fatty slices of pork belly are really fresh and juicy. The taste itself is crazily good! Dip into the soy sauce and give it more chili then let it melts inside your mouth! Damn, it’s seriously a piece of heaven! FYI, they also have Ogyeopsal, the pork belly with skin.

Yangnyeom Gui

Besides samgyeposal, this one is also signature pork dishes at Chung Gi Wa. Grilled marinated pork marinated in their special sauce. Although not as juicy as pork belly, their marinated pork is still juicy and really tender. So good!

Japchae

Japchae is a Korean dish made from sweet potato noodles, stir-fried in sesame oil with vegetables (typically thinly sliced carrots, onion, spinach, and mushrooms). It’s available in 2 selections of meat, there are pork and beef. And of course, we ordered the pork one. LOL! Actually, the japchae is good but when compared to the price, better for us to order Samgyeopsal instead of Japchae.

Dolsot Bibimbap

Bibimbap is a Korean mixed rice and this Dolsot Bibimbap is served as a hot stone pot of warm white rice topped with beef, namul (sautéed and seasoned vegetables), gochujang (chili pepper paste), and egg.  This hot dish is sizzled and stirred together thoroughly just before eating. The chili pepper paste is very good and for more comforting taste, you can add some sesame oil.

At Chung Gi Wa, you also get a complimentary iced tea. It’s good because we dont’t need to order any other drinks. LOL!

Overall, we had a great dining experience in Chung Gi Wa. They offer delicious Korean food & BBQ with fresh and high-quality ingredients. The best Korean restaurant in town so far! The price is also very reasonable compared to others Korean restaurant in Jakarta. If you haven’t try Chung Gi Wa, you really should! Trust us, you will love them as much as we do.
