GYOZA BAR – Central Park Mall

The food scene in Central Park Mall has evolved into more interesting and lively. Many new restaurants have opened with stronger and better concept. One of the latest additions that we had visited is Gyoza Bar at Tribeca Park area in Central Park Mall.

Gyoza Bar is a new concept by Midtown Group. It’s a Modern Japanese Fusion specializing in Gyoza and Japanese style Cocktails. The first of its kind in Indonesia. Gyoza Bar was conceptualized by Chef Sambas (Midtown Corporate Chef) and Chef Andy Ho (Gyoza Bar’s Executive Chef), both of whom have had more than 15 years of successful careers in various award winning restaurants in North America.

Gyoza Bar is decorated neatly with cozy and homey style with mezzanine floor. The interior itself dominated by modern Japanese style with colorful decoration on the wall and partition. It has a unique and photogenic design with the use of swing chair, sofa, pillow, bar counter, and Japanese ancient coin partition.

Edamame

We start our meal with Edamame. The warm fresh soy bean with sea salt will be a perfect appetizer since it is one of our favorite when in a Japanese restaurant.

Orenji Cinnamon

A sweet starting with a beautiful presentation of Orenji Cinamon. It’s a truly refreshing drink that consists of charred orange, strawberry fruit, orange juice, cinnamon syrup, and earl grey syrup.

Okonomiyaki

It is a Japanese savory pancake or omelet that contained vegetables and topped with katsuobushi (bonito flakes), nori, Japanese mayonnaise, and okonomiyaki sauce. The pancake texture is really soft and well combined with savory okonomiyaki sauce.

Pork Belly Bao Bun

Another variety of appetizer from Gyoza Bar. A homemade bao bun filled with Pork Belly and vegetables. We can say that it’s a pork belly sandwich. The pork belly is really tasty, but we expect in larger and size. LOL.. We also love their homemade bao bun since the texture is  very soft and fluffy.

Deep Ocean Roll

One thing that we love from Gyoza Bar is their Futomaki, or we can say that “fat roll sushi”. Futomaki is a type of Japanese sushi that is rolled into a thick long cylinder. If you like sushi, especially California roll, you’ll like this Deep Ocean Roll. It’s a California roll and cream cheese topped with tobiko, spicy aioli, and unagi sauce.

Chilies Gyutan Don

It’s a chilies beef tongue rice bowl. Consists of beef tongue, chili chunks, nori, and vegetables over rice. To be honest, this one is not memorable for us. Maybe we’ll like their Gyu Don (beef rice bowl) instead of Gyutan Don.

Chicken Katsu Don

All time favorite! We think everyone will love this Chicken Katsu Don since it’s very popular and favorite in every Japanese restaurant. Rice bowl served with chicken katsu, half-cooked egg, nori, vegetable, and Japanese sauce.. It tastes really good! One of our favorite dishes in here.. 😉

Gyoza Nova

Here it is! Our most favorite dish and the signature or specialty from Gyoza Bar. It’s a fusion of Japanese and Mexican Gyoza. One portion consists od 6 pcs of grilled chicken gyoza topped with spicy mayonnaise, enoki, scallion, and tobiko. It’s sooo damn good!

911 Yaki Soba

If you like spicy, this is a must try! Stir fry noodle with shrimp and little bit taste of hell! We love the texture and taste of the noodle. A perfect taste combination of sweet, savory, and spicy. Yumm…

Volcanic Roll

Another futomaki from Gyoza Bar. Volcanic Roll consists of fried soka crab, unagi, avocado, masago, spicy aioli, and lettuce. Damn, it tastes really good! It’s definitely a perfect creation which you hardly find anywhere else.

Salmon Pizza Sashimi

The name sounds pretty unique, isn’t it?  Salmon Pizza Sashimi is a combination of salmon sashimi, crabstick, tobiko, mayonnaise, and tamago on Chinese donut, or better known as Chinese fritter / Cakwe. This one is also good, the best part for us is the combination of salmon, mayonnaise, and tamago. The Chinese donut itself is very crisp.

Black Sesame Seed Pudding

Dessert Time! It’s a unique black sesame seed and white chocolate bread pudding served with vanilla ice cream and ginger candied. Actually, I didn’t really like this, but it has a unique flavor that worth to try!

Silky Tofu

It’s an almond pudding with salted caramel crumbs. Why it’s called Silky Tofu? Because the pudding texture is sooo fluffy… 😀

Dorayaki Ice Cream Sandwich

This is our most favorite dessert here. Japanese pancake filled with green tea ice cream, white chocolate, and salted caramel crumbs. Such a perfect combination!
