[TAIWAN] XI MEN DING – Taipei

One of our favorite places in Taipei in our Taiwan trip last winter is Xi Men Ding. Xi Men Ding is a neighborhood and shopping district in the Wanhua District of Taipei, Taiwan. It was the first pedestrian zone in Taiwan. Located in west Taipei, Xi Men Ding is one of the most popular tourist spots among both local and international travelers. Xi Men Ding features a wide selection of fashionable clothing and accessories in many styles include Japanese, Chinese, and Western.

Xi Men Ding is the source of Taiwan’s fashion, subculture, and Japanese culture. Xi Men Ding has a host of clubs and pubs in the surrounding area. This area is in the northeastern part of Wanhua District in Taipei and it is also the most important consumer district in the Western District of Taipei. The well-known Xi Men Ding Pedestrian Area was the first pedestrian area built in Taipei and is the largest in Taiwan. That’s why Xi Men Ding has been called the “Harajuku of Taipei” and the “Shibuya of Taipei”.

The best way to go to Xi Men Ding for tourist is by MRT. It’s easily accessible by MRT, just dropped at Xi Men Station (Banqiao Line and Xiaonanmen Line) and take exit 6.

Before strolling around Xi Men Ding, we’ve bought some snack from the street vendor. You can find many street foods or local food vendor along the pedestrian area with the reasonable price.

Xi Men Ding is filled with all kinds of shopping options, from department stores to shops and stores, including various CD shops, hair salons, Eslite Department Stores, movie theaters, Karaoke , etc. plus many other delicacies that willsatisfy your taste buds. Shops, Department Stores and Restaurant in Xi Men Ding such as Uniqlo, Superdry Store, Adidas, Swatch, The Face Shop, Seven Eleven, KFC, Starbucks Coffee, Sushi Express, etc.

Overall, Xi Men Ding definitely a must visit place in Taipei. Xi Men Ding is often crowded by visitors as there are abundant options for shops and restaurants. With an excellent location close to Taipei Main Station, Xi Men Ding offers great shopping scene with convenience in transportations with MRT and a multitude of buses.
