[KOREA] GOGUNG (고궁) – Myeongdong, Seoul

Gogung (고궁) is a famous restaurant in Myeongdong and famous for their… yes, Bibimbap. Specifically, they feature Jeonju (전주) style bibimbap. Jeonju is a city located in the center of  South Korea and is famous for iteration of this dish. As far as we can tell, Jeonju style bibimbap simply features a more diverse variety of vegetables.

[KOREA] JAEDONG SUNDUBU (재동순두부) – Seoul

Hidden away in a small alley near Anguk station, Jaedong Sundubu (재동순두부) is popular even among the locals. The restaurant serves a variety of traditional Korean dishes, including Sundubu, Bibimbap (mixed rice), Kongguksu (noodles in cold soy milk broth), Pajeon (scallion pancake), and Korean BBQ.

[KOREA] MYEONGDONG KYOJA (명동교자) – Myeongdong, Seoul

Myeongdong Kyoja is a famous restaurant in Myeongdong area and well known by many people around the world. Having been around for more than 40 years, Myeongdong Kyoja claims to be the founders of handmade Kalguksu noodles, which literally means noodles made by cutting flour dough into thin slices by the knife.

[KOREA] SOFTREE ICE CREAM – Itaewon, Seoul

In Korea, there was a huge surge of popularity over soft serve ice cream some while ago, especially those served with real honeycomb. The popularity of the ice cream started around 2013 and now there are many companies and individual vendors offering soft serve vanilla ice cream with real honeycomb, but the original brand that started the trend is “Softree”.

[KOREA] HANCHU (한추) – Gangnam, Seoul

There is no shortage of places in Seoul to eat Korean Fried Chicken.  If you are looking for a place that is popular with locals, you can go to Hanchu in Gangnam area. Hanchu is not a franchise and so there’s only one place in Seoul to eat their chicken. They are also ranked one of the best by the locals and winning The World’s Tastiest Fried Chicken by Chowtzer Award.

[KOREA] BUKCHON HANOK VILLAGE (북촌한옥마을) – Travel Diary

Besides food and shopping scene, local culture is also an interesting attraction in Seoul. Surrounded by Gyeongbokgung Palace, Changdeokgung Palace, and Jongmyo Shrine, Bukchon Hanok Village (북촌한옥마을) is home to hundreds of Hanok or Korean traditional houses, that date back to the Joseon Dynasty. During our #FooInLoveKOREA trip, we visited Bukchon Hanok Village after strolling around Gyeongbokgung Palace and have lunch at Tosokchon Samgyetang.

Nami Island is a beautiful island with lots of fun things to do. The island has lots of food options, from the sit-down restaurant to food tents and stalls, selling everything you could want. If you are planning to visit Seoul in November, make sure you don’t miss the Seoul Lantern Festival which held annually in the month of November at Cheonggyecheon Stream or Han River. In our #FoodInLoveKOREA autumn trip, we had visited the Seoul Lantern Festival 2016, which takes place along Cheonggyecheon Stream from 4th Nov through 20th Nov 2016.with the theme of “Lightened Hangang River where History Flows”.
