Actually, I am not a person who likes duck. However, since I was trying duck in this place, I immediately fell in love with their crispy duck. Even after I tried the duck at other resto & eateries, I think Bebek Bengil still the best and most delicious Crispy Fried Duck i’ve ever tried.
Located in the primary area in central Jakarta, this restaurant has a strategic location, behind the Bundaran Hotel Indonesia. The architectural and interior design was also very nice, with accessories and ornaments that represent typical Balinese ambience.
This restaurant has two floors, with indoor and outdoor dining. There are two huts sitting on the floor with a capacity of up to 15 people on the ground floor, and a few places to eat on the balcony on the second floor. This place is perfect for dining with family, friends, and colleagues with a cozy ambience
Not only the interior design, but the accessories used on the table is still associated with duck and Balinese culture. If you come here, you’ll feeling like being in Bali with the resort ambience. Really love their architecture and landscape design
Bebek Bengil (Original Crispy Duck)
The signature dish in this restaurant is Bebek Bengil (Original Crispy Duck). Their crispy fried duck is so tender, juicy, tasty and crunchy. Unlike in other places fried duck meat is sometimes tough. One portion of Bebek Bengil consist of Half a Duck steamed in Indonesia spices and deep fried for a crispy finish, served with steamed rice and Balinese vegetables or sauteed potatoes and side salad. I recommend you to use your fingers! 🙂

Besides Crispy Fried Duck, they also have Grilled Duck with Chilli Sauce, Grilled Duck with Green Chili Sauce, Bebek Pelalah (Chunk of Duck in Balinese Tomato Sauce), and Bebek Suir Bali (Fried Duck without bone in Balinese spicy sauce).
Indonesian Rijstafel
This is one of the menu that you have to special order besides Balinese Smoked Duck and Balinese Smoked Chicken. Indonesian Rijstafel in Indonesia more popular and known as Nasi Tumpeng.
This is a traditional Indonesian meal od saffron rice, Balinese satay, curried eggs, Balinese chicken curry, ginger chicken, crispy fried duck, Balinese vegetable (lawar), and all trimmings with Mixed Fruit Juice, Coconut Cream Pie, and Tropical Balinese Fruit as dessert to finish it off.
I like their yellow rice, chicken satay, crispy duck, chicken curry, and of course the chili sauce condiment. FYI, as written on the menu book, this is meal is for 3 person. But, actually one portion of Indonesian Rijstafel you can share for 4-6 person or even more!
Taste: 8/10
Balinese Smoked Chicken
Same with Indonesian Rijstafel, this one is also a special order in Bebek Bengil. Balinese Smoked Chicken is a whole chicken smoked in traditional way with spices wrapped in beauty nut leaf. This meal is served with Balinese sate, vegetables, steamed rice, and accompanied with Mixed Fruit Juice.
This smoked chicken is very delicious, smoke and spices seasoning are pervasive in chicken meat. This meal is for 2-3 person.

Nasi Goreng Special (Indonesian Fried Rice)
This one is indonesian fried rice with chicken served with chicken satay and fried egg. The fried rice also delicious, but you can find delicious fried rice like this in any restaurant. Besides Nasi Goreng Special, their also have another Indonesian favourites like Duck Fried Rice, Nasi Campur Bebek (Balinese Nasi Campur with Crispy Duck, Boiled Egg, Fish Satay, Balinese Vegetable, and lot more), Tumis Buncis Ayam Cincang (Sauteed string beans with chopped chicken), and many more…

Sambal Matah
This is the MUST chili sauce condiment that you have to accompany your main course. Yes, sambal matah. This is eaw shallot & lemongrass sambal of Bali origin. It contains a lot of finely chopped shallots, chopped bird’s eye chili, terasi shrimp paste, with a dash of lemon.
They also have Sambal Goreng / Fried Sambal. It is a mix of crisp fried red shallots, red and green chili, shrimp paste and salt, briefly stir-fried in coconut oil. And Sambal Dabu-Dabu, consists of coarsely chopped tomatoes, calamansi or known as lemon cui or jeruk kesturi, shallots, chopped bird’s eye chili, red chili, basil, poured with hot vegetable oil, salt.
From all of their chili condiments, Sambal Matah is the best!!! Really love their balinese spices in sambal matah
Bali Coffee
After eating all the appetizer, main course, and dessert, our dinner closed with a cup of Bali Coffee.. Perfect !!! It served with non-sugar, but if you like sweet black coffee, you add more sugar to fit your taste
