BAKMI LONCAT – Sawah Lio

Normally, street vendor eateries have a simple and humble place, but not with this one. Bakmi Loncat is located a bit hidden in Jembatan Lima (or more precisely in Sawah Lio) , with many chinese eatery in these area. The face of it eatery seemed quite striking since their unique and eye-catching decoration.

Actually, these place form of a humble house that used as an eatery. The first thing definitely you noticed when entering this place is their eye catching decoration mostly with antique items such as old vespa, wall art, lamp, and ancient utensils that hanging on the ceiling. Although I think that their decoration is excessive and messy, but I have to admit it successful enough to attract the customers.

Bakmi Loncat’s main dish is Pontianak style noodle. Since my parents from Singkawang (West Kalimantan) and there is a lot of Kalimantan food in Jembatan Lima area, i like almost all Kalimantan (mostly Pontianan and Singkawang) style noodle, kway teow, congee, or nasi campur. LOL

Maybe you had to wonder why their noodles called Bakmi Loncat. It’s because every time the uncle cook and prepare the noodles, he would throw it high into the air before he put the noodle into a bowl.

Actually, the taste of the noodle more or less similar with  typical Kalimantan noodle but i can say that their noodle is just good enough since there is another place that i think have more delicious noodle. I love their noodle because it slim and light with soft texture. The best part of it of course the generous amount of meat toppings. It consist of beef, dumplings, hakong (shrimp spring roll), and my personal favorite pork fat crumb. For more comforting taste, i always give 1-2 spoons of chili and add some pepper.

For drinks and dessert, we have tried their Ambarella Juice (Kedondong) and Strawberry Snow Ice. Both were very refreshing with a sweet taste to satisfy our taste buds.

Overall, Bakmi Loncat offers a good Pontianak style noodle with good concept and comfy place compared to another eatery around them. And the price was also affordable. It’s recommended and we’ll be back for sure!
