KEDAI SOTO IBU RAHAYU – Pajajaran, Bogor

Soto is omnipresent in Indonesia, available in many warungs and open-air eateries on many street corners, to fine dining restaurants and luxurious hotels. Because it is always served warm with a tender texture, it is considered an Indonesian comfort food. The spread of soto in Indonesian archipelago was followed by the localization of Soto’s recipe, according to available ingredients and distinctive local taste. As the result, myriad soto recipes and variations can be found in Indonesia and you can find some of the best in Kedai Soto Ibu Rahayu, one of the best Soto in Bogor so far.

I have been to the older place in Pajajaran and I have been loving it ever since. In this post, we’ll share our experience in their newer branch in Padjajaran I.ndah V, Bogor. The place is quite bigger and cozier with more modern design. It’s simple yet well designed with garden and outdoor dining area.

Soto Ayam

This is an Indonesian equivalent of chicken soup that consists of shredded chicken, rice noodle, tomato, leeks, and friend shallot. It has 2 selections of soup, there are clear soup and coconut milk. My favorite is soto ayam with coconut milk which has a rich and strong of flavor and recipe.

Soto Mie

Soto Mie considered as one variant of soto, while in Malaysia and Singapore it is called mee soto. A combination of either noodle or rice vermicelli along with slices of tomato, boiled potato, hard boiled egg, cabbages, peanut, bean sprout and beef, offal or chicken meat are added. Broth is then poured over this combination. This soup is made from beef or chicken stock and some other spices. For more comforting taste, soto mie usually add condiments such as jeruk nipis (lime juice), sambal, bawang goreng (fried shallot), vinegar, sweet soy sauce, and emping.

Sop Sayur

If you looking for a more healthy option, Sop Sayur or vegetable soup will be a good choice. It consists of tomato. boiled potato, cabbages, long beans, carrot, mushroom, long beans, and celery  with clear soup. This one is just good but not memorable.

Actually, my most favorite here is Soto Rica-Rica which you hardly find anywhere else. I’ve tried this at their older place in Pajajaran and unfortunately I not take the picture :(. Soto Rica-Rica consists of high-quality beef in hot and spicy rica-rica seasoning with a bowl of soup. You can choose clear soup or coconut milk, my favorite, of course, coconut milk. LOL! The beef is really juicy and tender, a perfect combination with their rica-rica seasoning and coconut milk.

Overall, Kedai Soto Ibu Rahayu offers a large variety of soto and almost all of them is tasty, delicious, and recommended. We hope that they’ll have Soto Betawi and Soto Lamongan in their menu since both are a favorite soto in Indonesia. So, when you are in Bogor, don’t forget to stop by this place and try their delicious soto!
