NOM ASIAN BBQ

Muara Karang area is known as one of the best culinary spots in North Jakarta. A lot of restaurants there and most of them are Chinese restaurants. There’s a new addition that we visited last weekend, Nom Asian BBQ which might be the favorite place for Asian BBQ lovers.

Nom Asian BBQ is located right on the Muara Karang street. You’ll easily find their signage and BBQ station in front of the restaurant. The interior decoration is pretty good with traditional Asian concept. When entering the restaurant, you’ll find a unique interior design with the mural that depicting the Asian traditional atmosphere. We really love the atmosphere that brings the concept of Asian street activities. Space is not too spacious but cozy enough to hang out and have a chitchat with friends.

Accordance to its name, the signature dish here is their BBQ skewers. There are many variants of grilled skewers, such as Pork, Chicken, Beef, and Seafood. In addition, they also serve package of authentic Asian cuisine with a modern touch.

Mango Frappuccino

We started our dinner with Mango Frappuccino, a refreshing drink with mango flavor. In our personal taste, it tastes too much milk rather than mango.

Avocado Latte

The avocado latte is much better than mango frappuccino. It’s rich with avocado flavor and well combined with milk at the right level of sweetness.

Grilled Skewers

As we mentioned above, there are many selections of skewers that you can choose. In this time, we’re trying the BBQ Pork (IDR 12,000), Korean Pork Belly (IDR 12,000), Cantonese Pork (IDR 12,000), Beef Wrap Enoki (IDR 12,000), and Chicken Chasiu (IDR 7,000). The chicken skewer just good and not memorable for us, but all the pork skewers are pretty good. It’s really juicy and seasoned well. We also love their seasoning which tastes salty and sweet yet savory. But for the pork belly, we think that it will be perfect with more tender texture.

Mix Skewers

For a heavier meal, you can order Mix Skewers that allows you to choose 4 skewers and served with rice. Sounds a good deal, right?

Overall, Nom Asian BBQ offers a wide variety of Asian BBQ with affordable price. Based on our experience the food was a bit hit or miss, some dishes were nice, some still need improvement. Our favorite is their Pork Chasiu, BBQ Pork, and Beef Wrap Enoki.
