Exploring food scene in Pantai Indah Kapuk is always exciting. There’s a lot of restaurant with the strong and unique concept which is very interesting for us, and of course for many people to try. Recently, we visited Kintaro Sushi, a traditional & fusion Japanese food restaurant with a modern concept.
This restaurant is located at Ruko Garden House, next to Chir-Chir and near Teishoku Japanese Restaurant. Kintaro Sushi has a cheerful atmosphere with the combination of both modern and traditional touch of Japanese concept with the play on colorful patterns and ornaments. The place is not too spacious but cozy enough with Japanese style wooden decoration and warm atmosphere.
The food concept in Kintaro Sushi is modern fusion Japanese cuisine with 300++ traditional & fusion Japanese food such as appetizer, agemono, salad, sashimi, nigiri, sushi roll, donburi, curry rice, bento, soup, noodle, etc. There’s sushi bar in the front area where you can see the chefs in action making sushi with the display of colorful ingredients. FYI, you can custom your sushi rolls and poke bowls by choosing the ingredients and the sauces that available on the sushi bar.
Aburi Moriawase
If you remember and read our blog post about Ferris Wheel Sushi in Teishoku, here at Kintaro you’ll find a cute sushi bridge. Though this beautiful and unique presentation is the highlight and to attract customer since it’s too cute to be missed. Even though Kintaro have endless options of a la carte sushi, but they have the best deals on sushi set so we opted for Aburi Moriawase.
Aburi Moriawase is the lightly torch-grilled nigiri sushi set that consists of Salmon Aburi, Tamago Aburi, Gyu Aburi, Unagi Aburi, Tuna Aburi, and Salmon Belly Aburi. The salmon and others ingredients were really fresh and yummy. Not only a good presentation but it also tastes good.
Emperor Bento
Kintaro seems to be very serious in paying attention of their food presentation. Not only the sushi bridge but they also have Emperor Bento, a Japanese Castle-shaped bento box with 3 layers where they put Mosaic Chirashi, Kintaro Gyudon, and Unagi Tempura Don, with Miso Soup and Salad on the side.
The presentation just great, unique, and nicely arranged not only the castle-shaped bento box but also the dishes itself. The Kintaro Gyudon is the best, rice topped with extremely tender and well-seasoned gyudon, onsen egg, onion, and a mildly sweet sauce. The beef is just perfect, it’s very juicy and melts in the mouth easily with delightful truffle aroma.
The Unagi Tempura Don was also good (really like the sauce!) as well as Mosaic Chirashi which is super cool and carefully made. The taste was nice and the presentation will definitely attract a lot of attention! The Mosaic Chirashi is come with raw ingredients by default, but you can request for lightly torch grilled as we do.
Kintaro Gyu Kushi Katsu
The famous Japanese gyukatsu or beef cutlet dish is never disappointing us! Well, this is the best of the best from all dishes that we’ve tried! The beef was breaded and deep fried at the medium-rare level and then served with a mini stone grill along with 3 condiments; soy, garlic, and tonkatsu sauce.
The best way to enjoy gyukatsu is by simply dipping the beef into the sauce, and then grill it on the mini stone grill on each side. Just feel the best part when extremely juicy and tender wagyu melts in your mouth!
Nutella Ice Cream Mochi
Our dinner is topped off with Nutella ice cream mochi. The yummy Nutella ice cream at the right level of sweetness, wrapped in the perfect texture of soft and chewy mochi is such a great ending!
Overall, we had a great dining experience at Kintaro Sushi. As you can see from pictures above, we got to say that Kintaro Sushi very serious in paying attention to their food quality along with the unique and instagrammable presentation. Even though the price is a little bit pricey, but it’s totally worth it!
