KEDAI KOPI TENONG – Cipete

Cipete has developed into a lively area in South Jakarta. Many fancy restaurants, cafes, and coffee shops are now emerging, and one we visited lately is Kopi Tenong.

Located at Jalan Cipete Raya, Kopi Tenong is very easy to find.  They are adjacent to Toko Batik Koena Koeni and the plus point is, the parking here is free with a very spacious parking space.

The coffee shop itself is very spacious, unlike most coffee shops in Jakarta. When stepped inside, you’ll feel like entering an old house. A very traditional atmosphere with a friendly and cozy ambiance, with ancient furniture furnishings such as old motorcycles, hampers, tea set, jars, paintings, etc. in contrast with modern and beautiful lighting.

Besides the indoor area, there also a spacious outdoor area for those who want to smoke, or enjoy the open air.

Even though it’s a coffee shop, Kopi Tenong also serves a wide variety dishes and snacks to accompany your coffee time, ranging from Indonesian and Asian food like Nasi Pecel, Nasi Goreng Kampung, Bakmi Ayam, to Western food such as Sandwich, Pasta, or Fish & Chips.

Es Kopi Susu Tenong

Well, their Kopi Susu is surprisingly good. It’s creamy with the right level of sweetness. The palm sugar they’re used is not soluble, so you need to stir it first until dissolved. For iced coffee like this, we think it’s better to dissolve the palm sugar first before being given ice. Also, the coffee isn’t strong enough for us but probably it’s because they’re using cold brew coffee. Overall it’s quite good and we liked it!

Mie Ayam

As a die-hard fan of noodle, this is the first dish that I’ve tried. Their Mie Ayam is very good, the noodle was firm and chewy while the chicken is tasty and flavorful. It also comes with soup and meatballs. Not the best Mie Ayam for sure, but for a coffee shop, we can say that they’re very serious in making a delicious Mie Ayam like this!

Nasi Goreng Kampung

One thing we liked from this Nasi Goreng Kampung is, it tastes sweet with bold seasoning, and comes with sunny side egg, pickles, and crackers as how Indonesian fried rice should be. The rice itself has a good texture and not too mushy.

Nasi Pecel

It is a steamed rice served with pecel or Javanese salad, consisting mixed vegetables with peanut sauce. In addition, there are sunny side egg, corn fritter, and crispy rempeyek. Taste-wise, it is nothing special like any other nasi pecel, but it will be a good choice to satisfy your craving for the traditional taste of Indonesia.

Smoked Beef Sandwich

The sandwich comes in a generous portion consisting of smoked beef, sunny side egg, lettuce, tomato, and french fries on the side. The taste was just okay, and it’s a good companion to enjoy your coffee for sure.

Overall, Kopi Tenong offers a good coffee and wide variety of dishes ranging from snack, main course, coffee, and non coffee based drinks at an affordable price. We loved both the food and especially the place. It’s pretty nice and spacious, making it a perfect place with comfy and homey ambiance to hang out, chit chat, working, or enjoy your me time. ?
