During our #FoodInLoveKOREA trip, we’ve tried many Korean fried chicken chains in Seoul. Besides Hanchu, BHC Chicken, and Two Two Chicken, Mirak Chicken (미락치킨) was on our bucket list, since it is very famous for being voted as one of the best three Fried Chicken places in Seoul.

Mirak Chicken located near Gyeongbokgung Palace and Tosokchon Samgyetang, so you can give it a visit when you visit that most iconic Palace in Seoul. The place itself is pretty small, seating capacity is about 40 seats including an odd, long table in the center while the interior has a dark and kind of pub-like feel.

The menu features three main fried chicken varieties, there are the regular, spicy seasoned (yang nyum), and the garlic which priced around KRW 15,000 – KRW 17,000. You can also get a half/half order of the regular, seasoned spicy, and garlic chicken. Boneless and popcorn chicken are also available in garlic and spicy flavor. The one we ordered is Half and Half Regular Chicken + Garlic Chicken (KRW 17,000).

Cheolpan Maneul Chicken (Iron Plate Garlic Chicken)

The most popular choice though, and the signature of Mirak Chicken as I said, is undoubtedly the garlic chicken. It’s cooked twice. First, it’s cooked on the fan of the kitchen, second, it’s cooked on an iron plate on your table. The fried chicken is topped with special sweet fresh garlic sauce. Such a match made in heaven, it’s super tasty and goes so well together that you just can’t stop eating. You can also add garlic toppings for KRW 2,000 if you want to truly enjoy the full taste of garlic.

Regular Fried Chicken

We also ordered the regular fried chicken which was quite good. The chicken was cooked expertly with a nice crispy skin and wonderfully moist chicken meat inside. But for some reason we found the seasoning to be on the very mild side.

Overall, we quite enjoy the Korean fried chicken at Mirak Chicken, especially for their signature Garlic Chicken. Definitely, a must try! As for their regular chicken, to be honest, Hanchu and Two Two Chicken do better. If you plan on dining here be sure to leave plenty of time as there are often large queues or, instead, you could choose to make use of the takeaway service.
