Wing Heng Hongkong Dim Sum in Muara Karang, Pluit area is one of our tasty findings recently. They used to have a smaller outlet before, but now they’ve moved to a bigger outlet, 2 stories air-conditioned, and open 24 hours! Wing Heng is located at Jalan Muara Karang, at the same row of Ottoman’s Coffee.

Even now they have a bigger space, there’s always a long queue especially on the weekend or during meal times. But the fact that they’re opening for 24hours is a good point considering most restaurants only serve dim sum for breakfast only. Their customers mostly family or small group of 4-8 person. The downside is, the place feels cramped with narrow table settings and it’s noisy just like typical Chinese eatery that always packed with people.

Wing Heng serves a wide variety of steamed, soup, and fried dim sum along with a few rice and noodle dishes. The price ranging from IDR 17,000 to IDR 30,000, pretty affordable isn’t it? Since the dim sum is really nice at an affordable price, so it must be shared and here it is the review.

Bakpao Telur Asin (Salted Egg Bun)

This is a mandatory order. You just can’t leave Wing Heng without ordering this. It’s the steamed bun filled with salted egg yolk and it was crazily tasty. The steamed bun is very soft and fluffy, filled with glorious molten salted egg yolk filling with sweet, salty and creamy flavors. The runny soft egg custard with a perfect amount of sweetness is just right for us. Simply the best item here!

Siao Mai

Pork and shrimp is irresistible and such a killer combination. Homemade from scratch with the combination of pork and shrimp, their siao mai tastes delicious and very juicy. Many dim sum restaurant fails since they use frozen dim sum with mediocre taste, but Wing Heng’s siao mai is totally different.

Cheong Fen Polos (Plain Cheong Fen)

It is a thin crépe roll made from a wide strip of rice noodles. They serve many options for chong fen, such as with pork, chicken, pai kut, etc., but we opted for the plain one. It made without filling and seasoned with soy sauce soy sauce. The cheong fen texture is really soft and silky.

Steam Ayam Talas (Steamed Taro with Chicken)

The combination of taro and chicken is another option if you’re looking for the non-pork dim sum. Honestly, it tastes a little bit salty and we expect the lighter seasoning.

Kue Lobak Steam (Steamed Radish Cake)

A simply steamed radish is also a good choice, but to be honest it’s not special. That is much better choices than this menu.

Kue Lobak Goreng (Fried Radish Cake)

Their radish cake also available in fried version and this one is better than the steamed version. So if you want to try their radish cake, we recommend you to order this one. It’s a bit crispy outside but still soft inside.

Pangsit Udang Babi (Fried Dumplings)

Everyone would enjoy this simply fried dumpling. The pork and shrimp filling is generous, but it will be better if the dumpling skin is thinner and more crispy.

Lumpia Kulit Tahu (Fried Spring Rolls)

Available in deep fried version and steamed version, we opted for deep fried version and it was scrumptious with juicy filling. The spring rolls deep fried nicely until crunchy on the outside. The shrimp is really fresh and very generous, if we not mistaken there are 2 big and juicy shrimps in each spring roll. Don’t forget to dip it into the soy-based sauce and spicy chili condiments with a spicy and tangy taste for extra flavors kick.

Ceker Ayam (Steamed Chicken Feet)

The chicken feet here is served in a generous portion with just the right amount of seasoning. It tastes peppery and savory with a tender texture.

Mie Babi Steam (Steamed Pork Noodle)

If dim sum isn’t your thing, Wing Heng also has noodle dishes and the most recommended one is steamed pork noodle. Minced pork topping was tasty and savory with strong ginger aroma and the thin noodle itself was really addictive with a springy texture and savory taste.

Lo Mai Kai (Glutinous Rice with Chicken)

Dim sum experience will not complete without this classic dim sum dish that usually served during yum cha. The glutinous rice is fragrant, has a good texture, and filled with chicken, mushroom, and a little bit egg yolk. Unlike the other items, their lo mai kai is somewhat lacking in the filling, but overall it’s yummy and we like it.

Overall, Wing Heng is definitely a highly recommended place for all dim sum lovers. We are happy to find a nice place for dim sum that suites our palates, budget-friendly, and open 24 hours. So, if you craving for dim sum in a ridiculous hour, just head up to this place! The downside of this place is the small parking area (especially in peak hour) and long waiting time for the foods. It also will be good if they add their dim sum variation on the menu. However, we can say that Wing Heng is still one of the best dim sum places in Jakarta. Be it breakfast or late night supper, we can have it anytime, and a return is totally a must!
