For those who live or often go to Bandung, you must be familiar or already make this noodle a must- eat food when you are in Bandung. Yup, it is a classic recommendation, everyone’s favorite Mie Rica Kejaksaan.
Mie Rica Kejaksaan is located at Jalan Kejaksaan No.7, Braga and they also have a branch at Paskal Hyper Square, Pasir Kaliki. When I had a quick escape to Bandung last month, I’ve visited the original outlet at Jalan Kejaksaan, it opens every day from early morning 8 AM to 2 PM and then in the afternoon from 4.30 PM to 8 PM.
This is a humble eatery and the place is not too spacious. The capacity is only for around 50 peoples so prepare for a queue if you come in peak hour, especially on weekends. If you come by car, finding a parking space can be a challenge.
As the name suggests, Mie Rica Kejaksaan serves noodle dishes along with a few side dishes, as for the noodle there are 5 main categories, Ca Ciang, Casao Spicy, Deep Fried Shrimp Spicy, Spicy Pork Rica, and Chicken noodle with choices of additional items such as meatball, wonton, etc. If you’re not a fan of noodle, it can be replaced with bihun or vermicelli, also you can request the seasoning whether you want it to be savory or sweet.
Mie Rica Babi Pedas (Spicy Pork Rica Noodle)
At a glance, the signature dish looks like a noodle with bolognese topping, but it’s actually pork rica or minced pork cooked in spicy chili sauce. The noodle is available both in sweet or savory seasoning and I opted for savory seasoning. The noodle was delicious but seriously it so spicy! Its fieriness kicked in every bite with the addictive aroma of chili. So, beware of its powerful spicy kick!
Mie Pedas Casao (Spicy Pork Charsiew Noodle)
Unlike Mie Rica Babi Pedas, I opted the sweet seasoning for Mie Pedas Casao. I know it is more suitable with sweet seasoning since I’ve tried both. The noodle came with a generous amount of pork charsiew and pork rinds. The seasoning was nice with just the right level of sweetness, I really love the springy texture from the noodle. And also this one is less spicy than Mie Rica Babi Pedas.
Bihun Ayam Pangsit & Bakso Ikan (Chicken Vermicelli with Wonton and Fish Meatball)
Besides noodle dishes, I also tried their Bihun Ayam with wonton. The vermicelli is soft and has a nice texture. It’s perfectly paired with the chicken which also has a nice seasoning as well. As for the wonton and fish meatballs, it’s quite good with soft and tender meat.
Bakso Udang Goreng (Fried Shrimp Meatballs)
The deep-fried shrimp meatballs were extremely delicious, crunchy on the outside while soft tender on the inside. It’s perfectly seasoned with generous chunks of shrimps. Definitely a great companion to enjoy your noodles.
Overall, this is the best noodle in Bandung for me and I always visited this place every time I go to Bandung. I love their rica noodles so much. The noodle, the spicy pork rica, and the seasoning were just perfect for me even I was sweating and even shed a tear when eating it. It can be satisfying for spicy food lovers but also can be distracting for those with low tolerance to spicy food. To clean up your palette, there is a Durian Ice Cream stall in front of the eatery to save you from a burning spiciness.
