With all the yummy foods, food hunting in Bandung is always exciting! Besides all the new and hip places, the humble local food has its own charm that I can’t resist. In this post, I’ll gonna share a classic recommendation, everyone’s favorite Baso Arief at Wira Angun Angun street, Bandung.

Baso Arief is used to be a street vendor at Jalan Wira Angun Angun, Dago near Santo Aloysius High School, Bandung. Thanks to their loyal customers, now they are moving inside and its humble eatery has a bigger capacity. It’s quite difficult to find their location if you’re a first timer, but you can follow the maps at the end of this post to help you find them.

This meatball place is a legendary stop for Bandung people and merely has become a culture for Bandung teenager, especially a high school and college student. Baso Arief serves many kinds of meatball, there are original, cheese, mushroom, chili, and ‘urat’ or tendon meatball. The meatballs are served with your choice of noodles or rice noodle (bihun). And also the most wanted item here is their fried cheese meatball.

Mixed Meatball with Rice Noodle

If you’re visiting Baso Arief for the first time, let’s order their mixed meatball so you can try them all. It served with your choice of noodle or rice noodle, and I opted the rice noodle.

The soup has a light beef broth and to be honest I expect a thicker broth and bolder flavor. Even though all the meatballs were yummy, the meat was tender, well seasoned and has a good texture. I really loved their Baso Keju, it gives a unique sensation in my mouth because their hot broth made the cheese inside it semi-melted. Yummy!

Fried Cheese Meatball

Since the first time I visited Baso Arief, I have fallen in love with their fried cheese meatball. I merely haven’t met a kind of meatball like this before I found Baso Arief, and this is also the most wanted and mandatory menu here! This well-deep fried meatball has a crisp texture on outside and thick on the inside, the block of cheese on the middle of it gave a salty indulgent when it comes to my mouth. Perfect!
