As the largest metropolitan area in South-East Asia, Jakarta finally caught up with other major cities in Asia to provide its coworking community a working space that breaks the boundaries of cubicles and rigid working hours to get their work done. Nowadays, you can see a lot of people doing their work in the coffee shop, café, or restaurant in office hours. So it is very important to find a perfect space to have yourself working in different atmospheres that can give you such a refreshment and better ideas to put into your work!
Recently, I have found a perfect coworking space or rather is a coworking cafe that fits for digital nomads yet a foodie like me! It is Hiveworks Co-Work & Cafe, strategically located in Sudirman area, Central Jakarta, the most strategic business area in the heart of Jakarta city.
It such a hidden game since they’re not located in the office building like any other co-working space, but a stand-alone building at Jalan Karet Pasar Baru Timur, next to Citywalk Sudirman and Pavilion Apartment. The atmosphere here is quite calm from the city’s hustle since they are not located on the primary road that many vehicles pass by, yet still, have very strategic access. Another plus point, they have a spacious parking space, so you no need to worry about finding a parking space.
Hiveworks introduces the mixed concept of a cafe and co-working space, where customers can work, have a meeting, or simply enjoy a cup of coffee. Concept wise, it’s definitely the perfect space for working or hanging out.
The main difference between Hiveworks and any other co-working space is you don’t need a daily pass to work and stay here, for let’s say 3-4 hours or even for the entire day. It’s more casual just like cafe or coffee shop but also supported with amenities to work, such as two electric sockets on each desk and high-speed internet. However, they also have a meeting room and the dedicated desk for those who need it. Such a great concept, isn’t it?
The place itself is divided into 2 main areas, the cafe and the communal area. With 60 seating capacity, the cafe is a great spot whether you want to work on your laptop or chill while enjoying our expertly-brewed coffee, while the communal space is designed for co-working or small group meetings, with comfort in mind and has 24 seating capacity.
When working in a coworking cafe like this, the flexibility of working hour is the rule and thanks to Hiveworks, they’re open 7 days a week, from 8 AM until 10 PM every day. Even in public holiday, they’re still open except Hari Raya / Idul Fitri and New Year. So, feel free to visit on any day you want!
Okay, and now let’s go to their F&B menu. Hiveworks serves a wide variety of menu ranging from all-day breakfast, rice, pasta, snacks, tea, coffee, and signature drinks. To be honest, I didn’t expect too much on their food or coffee for the first time, but surprisingly it’s all beyond my expectation. So, here is the review.
Kopi Rumpi
As a coffee lover, I just can’t get enough of “Es Kopi Susu’ and here I had Kopi Rumpi, consist of iced coffee with milk and rum. I was impressed since the first sip, the coffee is strong enough with the right level of acidity and well combined with rum which perfects for my liking.
Hot Latte
Their milk-based hot coffee latte is also good. I found out later that they’re using coffee beans from Kopiku, the biggest supplier of high-quality Indonesian coffee beans. It’s not too sweet, creamy, and such a perfect caffeine intake.
Pork Breakky Bun
If you’re looking for a breakfast menu, I will highly recommend you try their Pork Breakky Bun. It is made of spam with scrambled eggs and chives served with spicy mayo dressing and topped with milk bun. The milk bun is soft and fluffy while the spam and scrambled egg are well combined with spicy mayo. Simply delicious!
Beef Hamburg & Rice
For a heavier meal, I opted for Beef Hamburg & Rice. This is one of Hiveworks’ signature menu, a beef hamburg patty with mushroom gravy served over rice. The beef patty was juicy and tender, well seasoned and grilled to perfection. The mushroom gravy itself is savory and flavorful.
Fungi with Truffle Oil Pasta
Pasta served with shitake mushrooms dash of parmesan cheese and truffle oils is always a good idea. The truffle aroma is very fragrant, the seasoning was spot on, savory but not too overpowering, tasteful!
Overall, Hiveworks Co-work & Cafe is definitely a perfect spot for co-working community, digital nomads, or anyone for having me-time with lovely coffee and meals. Whether it is to get connected, digging ideas with other workers, work discussion, chit chat or small talk with friends, I am pretty sure that their Communal Area and Cafe will make you more comfortable to work in.
