YA HUA BAK KUT TEH INDONESIA – Mal Taman Anggrek

Very important for a restaurant to keep the authentic taste of a dish, especially if these dishes come from other countries. If you read our previous post about Bak Kut Teh in Bugis, we have shared that we are always looking for Bak Kut Teh when in Singapore. And now, we found Ya Hua Bak Kut Teh in Mall Taman Anggrek, Jakarta serving Bak Kut Teh with its original taste we’ve ever tried in Singapore, even though we had never visited their outlets in Singapore. Ya Hua Bak Kut Teh is originally from Singapore since 1973. They already have 2 outlets in Singapore, located on the Haverlock Road in Isetan Office Building, and on Keppel Road at Tanjong Pagar Complex.

YUMZAA DIMSUM AND MORE – Supermal Karawaci

Dimsum is one of the most favorite Chinese traditional cuisine and almost all over area in Jakarta, you are not difficult to find a Dimsum restaurant. Actually, not many dimsum restaurants that have many variants of food besides dimsum, especially with the large variety of food and dessert at an affordable price. But fortunately, Yumzaa Dimsum and More has it all. Located in Supermal Karawaci, we thought Yumzaa is the only restaurant there that offers high quality dimsum with many asian and western dishes at very affordable prices.

KAMSENG RESTAURANT – Mangga Besar

If you’ve read my post about Bubur Ayam Mangga Besar 1, I said that many restaurants serving porridge and chinese cuisine along Jalan Mangga Besar 1. One of them is Kamseng Restaurant. It’s located on the same side with Bubur Ayam Mangga Besar 1. This restaurant can be found easily since they  use colorful lights for their signage. FYI, this restaurant is open 24 hours

BAKMI LONCAT – Sawah Lio

Normally, street vendor eateries have a simple and humble place, but not with this one. Bakmi Loncat is located a bit hidden in Jembatan Lima (or more precisely in Sawah Lio) , with many chinese eatery in these area. The face of it eatery seemed quite striking since their unique and eye-catching decoration.

[TAIWAN] WENG YAO JI (Taiwanese Brickkiln Chicken) – Chiayi

Taiwanese Brickkiln Chicken or Clay Oven Roasted Chicken is the most memorable dish of our Taiwan trip. We drop to this restaurant after our stay in Alishan, and on the way to Kaohsiung. This Weng Yao Ji Restaurant is recommended by our family in Taiwan since their Clay Oven Roasted Chicken has become popular around Taiwan. I found out later, they have 4 branches there is in Yilan, Hsinchu, Pingtung, and Chiayi that we had visited. The entrance of the restaurant is decorated with a giant mascot so you should have guessed that chicken is the main dish that we are here for!

[SINGAPORE] MAKANSUTRA GLUTTONS BAY – Esplanade

Local street food is a must try when you visit Singapore. One of the best places to enjoy Singapore local street food is in Makansutra, a Food Center with a large number of hawkers to indulge in a variety of local street food such as satay, chili crab, oyster omelet, and fried carrot cake. Makansutra Glutton’s Bay gives diners a taste of local food with a spectacular view of the Marina Bay skyline. [SINGAPORE] AH SENG BAK KUT TEH – Bugis

When in Singapore, don’t forget to eat Bak Kut Teh, one of the signature dishes from Singapore. Bak Kut Teh is a traditional Chinese soup and the name itself actually means “Meat Bone Tea” and at its simplest, consists of meaty pork ribs simmered in a complex broth of herbs and spices (including star anise, cinnamon, cloves, dang gui, fennel seeds, and garlic). And yes the broth was made from pork ribs bone.
