SEA GRAIN RESTAURANT & BAR – DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel, Jakarta

What comes to mind when you hear Mediterranean cuisine? Perhaps many of us are unfamiliar with this cuisine since it’s not the kind of cuisine that can be found easily in Jakarta. If you’re following our Instagram, you must know that last week we had a Meditteranean lunch at Sea Grain Restaurant & Bar, which specializes in Meditteranean cuisine and now we’re gonna sharing our experience with all of you.

Sea Grain is one of the restaurants in DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Jakarta, beside OPEN Restaurant, all-day dining buffet restaurant located right next to their fabulous and beautiful lagoon pool. Located on the 3rd floor, this stylish restaurant featuring floor to ceiling windows for a casual to mingle in both indoor and outdoor settings. Space is very spacious and nicely arranged with posh yet chic design and dimmed light during the night resulting in a luxury, relaxing, and romantic ambiance.

The main highlights of Sea Grain are their casual Mediterranean cuisine, which focuses on the selection of Italian Pasta and Pizza, Spanish Tapas, and Ultimate “Grill Experience”. They offer simple yet nuanced interpretations of authentic regional recipes as well as prime cuts of beef, poultry, and fresh seafood with an emphasis on fresh ingredients, simple yet exquisitely executed cooking methods – grilling, broiling, and baking.

Scallop Salad

For starter, we had this pan-seared scallop served with orange-glazed fennel and berries dressing. Taste-wise, the mixture of the freshness of scallop, salad, orange glazed fennel, and berries dressing were a great combination and it’s just simply perfect!

Seafood Platter

With the perfect combination of Mediterranean style with the local resource, Sea Grain’s Seafood Platter consists of sea bass, prawn, crayfish, squid, roasted potato, vegetable, and served with lemon butter sauce. All of the seafood is fresh and they exactly know how to cook and grill it to perfection.

Grouper en Papillote

It’s a unique dish since they bring the Grouper as Mediterranean cuisine with a very popular cooking method in that region, papillote. Sea Grain combines these two elements from the Mediterranean using 100 local resources from Indonesia. The baked grouper served with vegetable and potato and like their other seafood dishes, it has a good freshness and no complaint about it.

Oyster

It’s a fresh oyster served with the gratin, spinach, and Hollandaise sauce. To be honest, this is not our favorite, it tastes bland (the Hollandaise sauce was not much help) and a bit smelly.

Nero Pizza

When looked at the black ink sauce and mozzarella, this pizza looks like the other pizza that you can find in any other restaurants. But when we tried it out, it’s surprisingly good and beyond our expectation. The dough was crispy, not too thick and not too thin. The mixed seafood was also great, especially the squid which is very soft and juicy, and it’s perfectly combined with the mozzarella and black ink sauce. The best pizza that we’ve tried so far!

200 Days Grain-Fed Angus Tomahawk

From all of our lunch dishes, this one is the main highlight, and the best for sure! Aside from Spanish and Italian cuisine, Sea Grain also offer the ultimate grill experiences. It was a heavenly pleasure when you enjoy the ultimate sensation from the huge of 1kg 200 Days Grain-Fed Angus Tomahawk. It’s juicy, tender, meaty, and very well seasoned. For more comforting taste, you can add BBQ sauce suite to your taste.

Sangria

Our great Mediterranean feast wrapped up with Sangria, an alcoholic beverage of Portuguese and Spanish origin. It’s really fresh with the right level of sweetness and adding a bounty of fresh local fruits to the Mediterranean character drink.

Overall, we really enjoyed the harmonious combination of Italian and Spanish cuisine that we’ve never experienced before at Sea Grain Restaurant and Bar. The foods were delicious and unique with the great ambiance which offers you a perfect dining experience. We highly recommend you to try their Tomahawk and seafood since those will not disappoint you!
