W Hotel Singapore located in Sentosa Cove, a residential enclave in the eastern part of Sentosa island in Singapore. Sentosa itself is a popular island resort in Singapore that offers a variety of attractions, museums and other facilities to provide a variety of experiences, recreation, and entertainment to visitors.
W Singapore – Sentosa Cove stands as a true getaway from the hustle and bustle of Singapore, with a location that is relatively intimate, relaxing and far from the maddening crowd. This is considering that the resort island where it is situated is more known for lively attractions such as Universal Studios and Adventure Cove Waterpark.
W Singapore – Sentosa Cove is a 240-room five star luxury resort hotel well known for providing a variety of services & facilities including the popular whatever/whenever service. The property is connected to a 228 unit residential complex (W Residences) located at Quayside Isle.
As is the case with most W hotels, the architecture and decor was really interesting. The front doors opened to a foyer with an illuminated wall and fountain, the entrance to one of the hotel restaurants, as well as a staircase and two elevators leading to the main lobby area. The main lobby was fairly large, with windows looking out over the resort and several seating areas, including an outdoor terrace. That being said, the lobby in itself is cozy and very stylish.
Sentosa Island is a popular leisure destination, so reception was quite busy. With three people manning the front desk when I arrived, I managed to check-in early prior to the standard check-in time with only a short wait for my room. Several families seemed to be checking either in or out, so there was quite a bit of commotion near the check-in desk. Given that, it’s hardly surprising that check-in wasn’t entirely smooth.
Elevator lobby and the hallway was nicely decorated, and quite stylish, as is generally the case with W properties. The suite was at the end of the building, and the entrance was recessed from the main hallway.
Our Wondeful Room was quite spacious, at 40 square meters in size, but without a balcony. The room had a pinkish hue which could be enhanced or changed to other colors with the light settings at the bedside. In front of the bed was the flat-screen LCD TV which could be closed with a drawer. There was also a box underneath it filled with several types of adapters. Definitely no problems here when it comes to finding the right plugs to connect my smartphones and laptops. There is also a minibar and it was built into the room paneling.
The bathroom came with a large bathtub, with glass windows beside it that could be opened to give direct access to the bed. The toilet and shower area were in separate enclosures. Like in other W properties, the toiletries were from Bliss. I was provided with facial wash aside from the customary shampoo, conditioner, bath gel and lotion.
About the facilities, W Sentosa have gym & fitness area. It was relatively spacious and featured a good balance of machines needed for a good workout with the modern equipment.
The centerpiece of W Singapore – Sentosa Cove’s facilities is undoubtedly the swimming pool and lounging area which is one of the largest I have seen in a hotel in Singapore. With sleek curvatures, the shape resembles a lake (yes, it’s that big!) and was particularly picturesque during the evening I was there. It’s also a family friendly pool, with a depth ranging from 0.9 to 1.2 meters. What I particularly like about the pool is that it’s open 24 hours a day!
Around the pool they have everything from hammocks, to beanbags, to lounge chairs, to inflatable lawn furniture. The pool is huge but simple, which is to say that it didn’t have water slides, waterfalls, etc. But they did have plenty of inflatable pool “toys”. There is also a pool bar, called WET Bar, which architecturally notable with its white cylindrical structure.
In the morning we had breakfast which served at The Kitchen Table, which was rather busy. As we happened to be staying during the weekend, the hotel made some provisions to extend the breakfast area to Skirt as well which was a wise decision given that almost everyone comes down simultaneously at 9 am for breakfast.
The Kitchen Table offers contemporary Indian, Chinese, Japanese and international flavors, where live cooking stations—including sushi, dim sum, tandoori, wood-fired pizza, and dessert options—fuse with casual surroundings. They also have outdoor dining area with marina view.
Overall, we had a great time staying at W Singapore – Sentosa Cove. Really love their great location with lush greenery and lively coastal setting of Sentosa, and the Wonderful Room with spacious room and comfy bed. It’s definitely a perfect choice to escape from the daily routine and take a whirl into the extraordinary when you’re in Singapore. Thank you W Singapore – Sentosa Cove for the hospitality and making our trip memorable.
