Chinatown Complex Food Centre is the largest hawker centre in Singapore with over 260 food stalls, also boosting the world’s first Michelin hawker stall, Liao Fan Hong Kong Soya Sauce Chicken Rice & Noodle. 168 CMY Satay itself is a humble food stall at Chinatown Complex Food Center that known for serving cooked-to-order satay with a tasty sauce.

Their menu is quite simple. In front of the stall, you can easily getting know that they are serving Pork, Chicken, and Mutton satay and also Rice (lontong) at 60 cent each. The minimum order is 10 sticks and you can mixed within pork, chicken, and mutton.

During my visit, I’ve ordered Chicken and Pork Satay (each 5 sticks) for SGD 6. It served with tasty peanut sauce just like Indonesian satay. Uniquely, their peanut sauce is added with a dash of pineapple sauce which supposedly enhances flavors and makes the sauce more tolerable for those not used to spicy food!

Chicken & Pork Satay (SGD 6 / o.6 cents each)

The satay is cooked to the right amount of char, with its well-marinated meat, juicy and tender. The marinade was more veering towards sweet but still maintained smokiness. It is grilled to perfection yet maintaining the meat’s juiciness and each stick (both chicken and pork) was just succulent with ample amount of fatty meat to chew on

Overall, 168 CMY Satay serves extremely tender and flavorful satay. Their cook-to-order satay is juicy, and very well marinated. And it’s even more tasty when you add the peanut sauce. So it is easy for me to verdict, they will surely bring all satay lovers to their knees and I will come back for sure!
